Project Samrakshak

According to the National Commission For Protection Of Child Rights, over 30,071 children have either been abandoned or have lost at least one of their parents, as an aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the recent study by the Lancet suggested that the actual number of children who have lost their parents is over 1.2 lakh. As the NCPCR continues to identify the children and bring them under the protection of the state, the Central Government as well as the State Governments have launched various initiatives to bring these children under the benefits of the running schemes and new schemes to provide for their better future.

Through Project Samrakshak, we have identified and collated the state-wise schemes which will be applicable to these children. The information collated by us includes the details of these schemes including the beneficiaries, benefits and the status of their implementation, in accordance with the Supreme Court order SMW(C)No.4/2020. (Last updated: 29th August 2021).
